IMRAY, Robert

25th October 1897 - Lease Register: No. 888 GL 6. Robert Imray, of Queensland Office Bridge Street Sydney, is the sole applicant. (SRNSW Reel 1539)

Shoalhaven Telegraph, 27th October 1897 - Robert Imray is granted 2 months suspension on No. 95. Hielman appeared for Imray and said that Imray had purchased this and other portions of the Basser Estate. Imray wants to move a Cyanide Plant from Barmedan to Yalwal. “.....Imray was looked upon as an expert in the manipulation of the cyanide process.....” Hielman, on behalf of Abraham Martin, is granted 2 months suspension on No. 686 to allow its amalgamation with No. 95.

18th November 1897 - Lease Register: No. 95 GL 3. The lease is transferred to Robert Imray of North Sydney. (SRNSW Reel 1538)

13th June 1898 - Lease Register: No. 857 GL 3. Transferred to Imray from A. Martin. (SRNSW REel 1539)

23rd June 1898 - Lease Register: No. 906 GL 51. Imray is the sole applicant. (SRNSW Reel 1539)

 

INGLIS

25th August 1887 - Lease Register: No. 207 GL 23. David Kerr Inglis is one of the original applicants. (SRNSW Reel 1538)

15th October 1889 - Lease Register: No. 207 GL 23. David Kerr Inglis

    Transfers 1/8 of his interest to John Hicks
    Transfers 1/4 of his interest to A.R. Gregory. (SRNSW Reel 1538)

21st November 1889 - Lease Register: No. 207 GL 23. David Kerr Inglis transfers his remaining interest to James Irwin. (SRNSW Reel 1538)

Shoalhaven Telegraph, 22nd June 1892 - Warden’s Court: The original lease for the Dangera Treasue Mine was held by Inglis and Hicks. Later Hicks, Irwin, Gregory and Inglis were the owners.

23rd May 1898 - Lease Register: No. 858 GL 54. J.C.P. Inglis writes a letter of complaint regarding this lease, 98 - 9525. (SRNSW Reel 1539)

1899 - 1900 Electoral Roll - No. 2157. Thomas Charles Inglis, Yalwal, Miner.

 

IRWIN, James

Shoalhaven Telegraph, 4th July 1888 - Paull v. Maclean. James Paull states that Adolphus Kelly, of Victoria, and James Irwin, late of Copeland, have an interest in the case with him.

15th October 1889 - Lease Register: No. 207 GL 23. John Hicks transfers 1/2 of his interest to James Irwin. (SRNSW Reel 1538)

21st November 1889 - Lease Register: No. 207 GL 23. D.K. Inglis, A.R. Gregory and J. Hicks transfer their interests to James Irwin. (SRNSW Reel 1538)

ST, 8th January 1890 - James Irwin donates 10s to the Yalwal School of Arts Building Fund.

ST, 18th June 1890 - James Irwin Contributes 5s to Samuel Friend during his illness.

Shoalhaven News, 10th January 1891 - J. Irwin’s application for a 40 acre Mineral Lease, parish of Yalwal, has been approved.

ST, 22nd July 1891 - Mr. Irwin sings at a concert in the Yalwal School of Arts, in aid of a distressed family.

SN, 8th August 1891 - J. Irwin’s 40 acre lease, ML 36, has been declared void, the owner having failed to take delivery.

ST, 19th August 1891 - Sydney Kennedy v. James Irwin, snr., for wages whilst working on the Dangera Treasure Mine. He was engaged by James Irwin, jnr., nephew of James, snr., who was the working manager at Yalwal.

ST, 27th April 1892 - Messrs. John Irwin, Charles Payne and W. Bettens, cater for the Grand Ball held on Easter Monday night.

ST, 22nd June 1892 - James Irwin v. John Hicks: L148 17s 10d advance on account of The Dangera Treasure Gold Mining Company. The orginal lease for the Dangera Treasure Mine was in the name of Inglis and Hicks. A case of complicate share transactions with Nugent Brown, M’Intosh, Rauft, Holmes, Gregory, Hicks and Irwin all being involved. Case dismissed.

ST, 21st December 1892 - Thomas Gilbert v. F.W. King, J. Irwin and W. Davis for wages owing. King had sub let the Pinnacle Mine to Irwin and Davis and the case against King is dismissed. Verdict against Irwin and Davis.

Shoalhaven News, 19th April 1873 - A meeting regarding a road to Yalwal is to be held in Mrs. Isaac’s Hotel on the 26th.

 

ISBISTER, Robert

16th June 1880 - Letter requesting a School for Yalwal signed by Robert Isbister, indicating that he has at least one eligible child. (SRNSW 5/18232.1)

17th September 1880 - Petitions for a School at Yalwal signed by Robert Isbister, and 35 others. (SRNSW 5/18232.1)

1880 - 1881 Church of England - Robert Isbister, of Yalwal, contributes 2s 6d to the Nowra Church Fund.

 

ISON, George

Shoalhaven Telegraph, 11th December 1889 - Mining Court: George Ison claims that a dray seized by the Bailiff, from Trevarthen, was purchased by him on the 31st of August. The seizure was made to satisfy judgment in Reynolds v. Trevarthen. Ison lost the case and had to pay costs of L1 1s.

 

ISON, Henry

1800 - 1881 Church of England - H. Ison, of Yalwal, contributes 2s 6d to the Nowra Church Fund.

1881 - 1882 Church of England - H. Ison, jnr., of Yalwal, contributes 6s 6d to the Nowra Church Fund.

20th February 1887 - A son, William, is born to Henry and Mary Ison. Henry is listed as a Labourer at Yalwal.

13th June 1887 - William Ison is Baptised by Joseph Best.

Shoalhaven Telegraph, 30th May 1888 - James Adams, in Paull v. Maclean stated in evidence that Henry Ison was employed on the Caledonian Mine from 4th February to 10th March. Henry Ison also gives evidence.

18th June 1888 - A son, James Henry, is born to Henry and Mary Ison. Henry is listed as a Miner at Yalwal.

ST, 4th July 1888 - Paull v. Maclean: Henry Ison, as a witness for Paull, was called three times by the Bailiff. He had been seen earlier that day in Nowra by R.T. Thorburn and John Maclean.

6th March 1889 - James Henry Ison is Baptised by Joseph Best.

ST, 20th March 1889 - Pinnacle Mine Case: Henry Ison, Thomas Heron, John Minnikin, Matthew Herle, James Adams, Isaac Samuel M’Mahon, Henry Smith, Thomas Kells, William Markham and Frederick Wilson are charged with unlawfully obstructing Reynolds from entering the Pinnacle Mine. The Bench decide that it is a matter fro the Warden and dismiss the case.

ST, 27th March 1889 - The Supreme Court calls on the Nowra Bench to show cause why a writ of mandamus should not be issued comelling them to hear the case.

ST, 10th April 1889 - Application for a writ of mandamus refused.

ST, 1st October 1889 - Supreme Court ex parte Reynolds, the Pinnacle Mine Case. It is decided that this is a matter for the Warden.

ST, 8th January 1890 - H. Ison donates 5s to the Yalwal School of Arts Building Fund.

4th April 1890 - A daughter, Mary Maud, is born to Henry and Mary Ison. Henry is listed as a Miner at Yalwal.

8th May 1890 - Mary Maud Ison is Baptised by Joseph Best.

1891 Census - Henry Ison is listed in the Census at Householders Schedule No. 90. 4 males and 2 females resident. (SRNSW Reel 2523)

1891 - 1892 Electoral Roll - No. 931. Henry Ison, residence Yalwal.

13th September 1892 - A son, Wilfred, is born to Henry and Mary Ison. Henry is listed as a Miner at Yalwal.

4th July 1893 - Wilfred Ison is Baptised by E. Wootton.

23rd September 1894 - A daughter, Ada Ann, is born to Henry and Mary Ison. Henry is listed as a Miner at Yalwal.

1st October 1894 - Ada Ann Ison is Baptised by F.J. Dillon.

28th June 1896 - A son, Edward John, is born to Henry and Mary Ison. Henry is listed as a Miner at Yalwal.

June - July 1896 - H. Ison made purchases from Yalwal General Store. (Shoalhaven Museum Yalwal General Store Ledger S 1251)

1st March 1897 - Edward John Ison is Baptised by Edward Owen.

7th November 1898 - A son, Richard Henry, is born to Henry and Mary Ison. Henry is listed as a Miner at Yalwal.

8th November 1898 - A daughter, Alice May, is born to Henry and Mary Ison. Henry is listed as a Miner at Yalwal.

8th December 1898 - Richard Henry Ison and Alice May Ison are Baptised by H.M. Trickett.

1899 - 1900 Electoral Roll - No. 2158. Henry Ison, Yalwal, Miner.

12th May 1905 - A daughter, Joy Florence, is born to Henry and Mary Ison. Henry is listed as a Miner at Yalwal.

8th January 1906 - Joy Florence Ison is Baptised by W. Newby-Fraser.

1880 - 1881 Church of England - Robert Ison, of Yalwal, contributes 4s to the Nowra Church Fund.

7th May 1881 - Lease Register: No. 70 GL 50. Robert is one of the applicants. (SRNSW Reel 1538)

Shoalhaven Telegraph, 14th April 1881 - Notice is given of the intention to cancel a gold-mining lease, unless the rent is paid, naming R. Ison and others.

ST, 12th May 1881 - Notice to Robert Ison, and others, to execute and take delivery of a gold-mining lease, or it will be declared void.

18881 - 1882 Church of England - Robert Ison, of Yalwal, contributes 5s to the Nowra Church Fund.

30th October 1883 - Robert Ison, aged 28 a miner of Nowra Hill, married Alicena Hollands, 23 of Nerriga, at Henry Ison’s Fram, Saltwater Creek. Robert’s parents were listed as henry Ison, farmer, and Ann Tripton; he was born at Burrier. Alicena’s parents were the late William Hollands and _____ Munro; she was born at Shoalhaven.

 

IVERSON

1891 - 1892 Elextoral Roll - No. 934. Walter Iverson, residence Yalwal.

23rd April 1895 - Lease Register: No. 614. GL 3 Ettrema. Waldemar Iverson is the sole applicants.

Shoalhaven News, 21st September 1895 - Waldemar Iverson v. Page and Archibald: Wages due for work on the Pinnacle Mine, is mentioned in the Stenhouse larceny case.

SN, 30th November 1895 - W. Iverson’s lease of 2a. 2r 6 1/2p., GL 3, parish of Ettrema, is now ready for delivery.

10th January 1896 - Lease Register: No. 614 GL 3. Transfered from Iverson to Thomas McLean, of Nowra.
