The Maitland Mercury and Hunter River General Advertiser, 20th July 1853 :

“The Ann, schooner, from Shoalhaven, reports having picked up on the beach a large portion of a wreck, on the 8th instant, consisting of a ship’s rail, a medicine chest, four bunk boards painted and numbered with black, part of the deck, piece of a topmast, all made of American pine, and some staves of cask made of American oak. She has evidently been a new and large American vessel. She is supposed to have been wrecked between Jervis Heads and Shoalhaven. The Ann brought up a portion of the wreck , all which is painted white, and of American pine and oak. Large portions of the wreck were floating on to the beach from the 8th to the 12th instant, when the Ann left.”
