The Moreton Bay Courier, 28th July 1849 :

“Intelligence has been received in Sydney of the total loss of the schooner Susan, 24 tons, Pulman, master and owner, on her passage from the Bermagui River, with a cargo of tallow and hides. It appears , that at 3 o’clock on the morning of the 3rd instant, the wind being from the north-west, the captain hugged the shore too close, and consequently struck on Ulladulla Reef; within ten minutes after which the vessel went to pieces. There were seven passengers on board, all of whom we are happy to say were saved, together with the crew. Sydney M. Herald, July 14.”
