Lifeboat in Action (Eng.) - 1861Shipping was the most important mode of transport in the early years of the colony and many disasters occurred during this time. In this section we have collected some of the more interesting contemporary accounts of these wrecks. They are important as many of the accounts detail the first interaction between Europeans and local Aborigines, and many of the survivors of these disasters were the first Europeans to trek along various sections of the coast.
