The Maitland Mercury and Hunter River General Advertiser, 24th July 1850 :

“The cutter Currency Lass, from Pambula, reports having spoken the ship Duchess of Clarence off Kiama, on the 16th instant, from San Francisco, bound to Hobart Town; and also saw the hull of the schooner Medina on the beach at Ulladulla Bight [Wreck Bay] - a prefect wreck. The above vessel has been missing for six weeks, and must have gone ashore in the late heavy gales. She was commanded by C. Giles, and owned by Mr. J. Russell, of Pyrmont. We understand that no traces of any bodies have been discovered.”
