The Argus, 10th February 1874 :

 

“The schooner Mary, from Melbourne to Newcastle, was totally wrecked in Wreck Bay during a southerly gale this morning. The wreck has been sold for L50.”

 

The Brisbane Courier, 12th February 1874 :

 

“The schooner Mary, from Melbourne, bound to Newcastle, has been totally wrecked during the recent southerly gale. The crew were all saved. The wreck was sold for L50.”

 

The Argus, 21st February 1874 :

 

“The Marine Board has exonerated Captain Pastell from blame in the wreck of the schooner Mary.”
