The Argus, 22nd June 1864 :

“SYDNEY, TUESDAY.

“The schooner Emma was wrecked during the late gales, near Jervis Bay.”

The Argus, 28th June 1864 :

“WRECK OF THE EMMA. - We have to report the wreck of the Emma, schooner, which vessel left this port [Sydney] for Nambuckra on Thursday week, and reached as far as Bird Island, when the full force of the gale was experienced. The schooner drove to the southward, and making water fast, it having reached her waterways. her captain, to save the lives of those on board, beached her to the northward of Jervis Bay, about fifteen miles south of Shoalhaven, where she lay embedded in the sand. The Emma had on board a quantity of provisions for the free selectors of the new settlement on the river, who number about 200, and if Nambuckra has suffered from the violence of the weather their wants will be dreadful to contemplate. The Emma was the property of Mr. G. Coulson, and was uninsured. - Sydney Morning Herald, June 21.”
