George Evans, M.A., near Sheffield. He followed the profession of the law, and arrived in the colony about the year 1839 or 1840. He was appointed nominee Member of the Legislative Council under the old system, and held the position for about five years. He was for a time Attorney-general, and in February, 1859, was appointed Second Judge and Primary Judge in Equity of the Supreme Court, an office which he still holds.”
