The following information was transcribed from The Maitland Mercury and Hunter River General Advertiser, 7th June 1851 :
“On the 15th ult., the Amphitrite, schooner, was driven ashore at Shell Harbour and totally wrecked; crew saved.....The Amphitrite was the property of Mr. William Baxter.....”
