The Brisbane Courier, 12th December 1882 :
“The ketch Alfred and Edward also went ashore on the South Head at Ulladulla on Saturday. No lives were lost, and there is some probability of getting the vessel off.”
The Sydney Mail, 30th December 1882 :
“But apropos of wrecks, I have yet another to record. By some mishap yet to be explained a small craft of some 50 to 60 tons burden, named the Alfred Edward, ran aground on the same day that the Plutus was wrecked while the skipper was endeavouring to get her out of the port of Ulladulla. I suppose it was a case of missing stays, but at any rate the wreck has been sold for a trifle, and the real losers are the insurance companies.”
The Maitland Mercury and Hunter River General Advertiser, 7th April 1883 :
“Wrecks on the Coast of New South Wales During the Year 1882.
“December 9, Alfred Edward, ketch, 35 tons, Ed. Conway, master; Ed. Conway, owner; 4 crew and passengers. In ballast; value of vessel, L600; insured for L500. This vessel was lost through missing stays in the attempt to work out of Ulladulla.”
